Steve Harvey Mentoring Wrap up-Day 4

The weekend was phenomenal. Lives were changed. "My hope is that these boys left the ranch so inspired that they, in turn, will set the example for other young men in their neighborhoods," Harvey said. "The weekend was a complete success, and I appreciate everyone who contributed to making it happen."

Steve Harvey Mentoring-- Day 2

Day 2-- Friday, June 19, 2009

The first day the campers are on the ranch without their parents. The day began with food, prayer, and fun.

The paint ball battle really got their attention, as Steve Harvey along with a band of celebrities, athletes, mentors and ministors guided the young men to better steps for their living.

What goes with talking, how about a relaxing time on the lake with a fishing professional.

The boys were also given hair cuts.

Steve Harvey-Flight School

Airline and Harvey Unveil Online Tribute Chronicling Weekend

Fort Worth, TX (BlackNews.com) - One hundred boys from around the country got perhaps their first look at what it takes to be a pilot -- and some life-changing advice on how to make their own dreams come true -- from entertainer Steve Harvey, who was hosted by American Airlines over Father's Day weekend.

The boys attended the first-ever Steve Harvey Mentoring Weekend this past weekend at his Dallas ranch. The actor, comedian and best-selling author created the mentoring weekend to support boys ages 13-18 who are being raised without fathers in their homes. During the camp, they visited the C.R.P. Future Pilots Flight School, which is sponsored by the airline. The school, based at Executive Airport in Dallas, teaches at-risk children in the Dallas and Tarrant county school systems to become pilots and aircraft mechanics.

Harvey also called on celebrity friends, business leaders, and other corporate sponsors to lead seminars on topics that included getting in and staying in college, making the best impression and other areas of self-development.

"My hope is that these boys left the ranch so inspired that they, in turn, will set the example for other young men in their neighborhoods," Harvey said. "The weekend was a complete success, and I appreciate everyone who contributed to making it happen."

Father's Day With Steve Harvey

My son, Dorian, age 16 was one of the 100 young men honored to be a participant of the inaugural Steve Harvey Mentoring Weekend (Father's Day weekend, to be exact). There were 4000 submissions and only 100 chosen. I was ecstactic and he was in awe. The event was life changing. Please enjoy this clip, as it only shows a snapshot of the miracle of changing lives. My thanks to God and to Mr. Harvey.
