Are you looking in the right spot?

Scripture in View: [Hebrews 12:1-3]

What are you looking at? The problem. The drama. What is and what isn’t. Are you constantly looking through the woulda/shoulda glasses and coming up short on the reward of your life’s reality. If _________ was ___________ I would be____________. If this is where you are looking, you are clearly looking in the wrong place.

  • Point 1: Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses– Everybody’s got drama. You are not the only one. Stop being the penny with the hole in it.

  • Point 2: let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us– Put the smack down on garbage and sin in your own life. If you are violating your temple (your body), detox your lifestyle. Check your closest before somebody brings you out of the closet. You yourself already know what your problem is. If you are lying, stop lying. If you are a messy, stop being messy. If you are promiscuous (whoring), stop giving up your goods. Nobody has to out you but you! Just get out of it and...

  • Point 3: and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,– You are somebody. God never created a mistake. Purpose brought you, and you should run with patience (the margin to of a stride) to live to be your best self. It’s like a marathon, at some points you can run fast to build up your lead. But at other times, the pace is slower. Not because you can’t run, but moreso the slow down is necessary because the distance is further and you must slow down to gain the momentum to finish the race. But how do you get there?

  • Point 4: Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; The only way to cross the finish line is the same way into and out of the world, looking to Jesus. What does that mean? Jesus who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

  • Point 5: In whatever you go through, whatever surfaces, hurdles to leap, pains to endure– look to Lord for the strength, power, refuge, and help to get through it. Simply pray. "Lord I am in ___ and I don’t know what to do. Please help me. You are my strength and hope. Amen."

No matter the climb or struggle within, trust God with every heavy situation and circumstance. He is still the God of catching cares. His glove is never frayed or broken.

Stay encouraged in the heavy– and move Forward
